Getting your PhD requires a lot from you. A promotion team that demands high standards, troubles with data collection, all courses, lectures and conferences that need to be attended and of course the publication pressure. PhD students experience a high workload and often feel stressed. Mindfulness means: 'to be present in the here and now, without judgment'. We often have the tendency to reject or suppress unpleasant thoughts or feelings. During the training you learn to reflect more consciously on your experience of the here and now and not condemn it. Mindfulness teaches you to adopt a more accepting attitude towards your thoughts, feelings and emotions. This allows you to deal more effectively with stressful situations.
