Blanca Scheijen assistant professor

Dr. Blanca Scheijen is group leader and assistant professor at the Department of Pathology. She performed her thesis research and post-doctoral training at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (Amsterdam). Subsequently, she joined the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (Boston, USA) for a period of 4 years as Instructor in Medicine. After her return to the Netherlands, she continued her research at the Department of Molecular Biology (RIMLS, Nijmegen), and she was a project leader at the Laboratory of Pediatric Oncology (Radboudumc, Nijmegen). Her current research mainly focuses on the molecular mechanisms related to lymphoid malignancies and therapy resistance. Additional lines of research involve the molecular pathology of sarcomas and other solid cancers.

Recent efforts in the molecular characterization of hematological tumors has resulted in the identification of genetic alterations affecting transcriptional networks and signaling pathways critical for the survival, proliferation and differentiation of normal blood cells. The aim of our research is to investigate the functional implication of these gene lesions on the pathobiology of lymphoid tumors and the impact on cancer therapy.

Personal prizes & awards national & international
