Ernst Spaan, MA, PhD is a social scientist with a research interest in population and development, public health and health systems in developing countries. Formerly at the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI) and Netherlands Institute for Health Services Research (NIVEL), he was involved in research for UNFPA, UNAIDS, WHO and DG Sanco/ European Commission. He did research in Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin-America and Eastern Europe. , he is involved in research on health financing in developing countries and health impacts of environmental change.
