About Han van Krieken

1987: Germany

After his education as a pathologist, Van Krieken worked in the Pathology department of the Leiden UMC and the Pathology department of the Diaconessenhuis in Leiden. He was chef de clinique with a broad role in pathological diagnostics and also worked as a specialist in hematopathology. In 1987 he was guest researcher at the Christian-Albrecht-Universität zu Kiel (Germany, trainer: Prof. K. Lennert). He did a fellowship at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda USA (1989-1990, instructor: Dr. E. Jaffe).

1999: Nijmegen

After his appointment at the Radboud University, Van Krieken specialized in hematopathology and the pathology of the digestive tract (the gastrointestinal tract). In 2000 he became deputy trainer. Five years later he became head of department and educator Pathology. From 2008-2010 he was research director of the Radboud Research Institute Oncology. Since 2008 he has been principal investigator and principal lecturer since 2009. In 2009 he became chairman of the Radboud University Center for Oncology. In 2016 he was appointed Rector Magnificus of Radboud University.

Van Krieken is (co-) author of more than 450 scientific articles (H-index: 68), especially in the fields of his specializations and mechanisms of diseases. In addition, he wrote chapters in the standard books on pathology: Histology for Pathologists, Knowles Neoplastic Hematopathology, WHO classifiaction or tumors of the gastrointestinal tract, WHO classification or tumors of the hematopoietic system. He is also editor of the Oncology textbook (Bohn Stafleu van Loghum, 8th edition 2011). In addition, he supervised 15 PhD students to a PhD.
