Harry Suryapranata's research interest and activities focus mainly on Acute Coronary Syndromes. Since his doctoral dissertation, entitled: Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty in Acute Ischemic Syndromes (Erasmus University Rotterdam, 1988), he has conducted many randomized trials (the Zwolle randomized trials) and has contributed in the European guidelines, mainly in the field of primary coronary intervention (PCI) for Acute ST-segment Elevation myocardial infarction, and the need for reducing time-delay to treatment.
