Marco Marra got his Bachelor degree in Biomedical Engineering from Polytechnic University of Turin (Italy) in 2011 with a thesis based on a telemedicine project for people in prison. In 2013 he got his Master degree in Biomedical Engineering from the same university with a thesis on spinal trauma biomechanics entitled `Study of dens fracture in the elderly, and the influence of osteoporosis with a finite element model'. This Master project was carried out at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm (Sweden), in the frame of Erasmus excahnge programmes. As of October 2013 he started his doctoral studies in orthopaedic biomechanics at Orthopaedic Research Laboratory, Nijmegen (Netherlands), within the ERC project `BioMechTools', supervised by Prof. Nico Verdonschot.

  • 2014: Winner of the first prize in the fifth "Grand Challenge Competition to Predict In Vivo Knee Loads", held at the 7th World Congress of Biomechanics, July 6-11, Boston, Massachusetts (USA)
