This is how you help keep Radboudumc safe:

Answer the questions about your health

When you come to our hospital, we will ask you some questions about your health beforehand via myRadboud. These questions are important to keep the Radboudumc as safe an environment as possible. We therefore ask you to answer the questions carefully and honestly. It is also necessary to answer these questions if you have been vaccinated against corona.

Once you have completed the questions in myRadboud, they will be recorded in your file.  If you answered "yes" to any of the questions, one of our staff members will contact you to discuss whether the appointment can go ahead, be digitally or by phone, or needs to be rescheduled.

Don't have a myRadboud?  If so, please complete the questionnaire on our website. Did you answer 'no' to everything? Then you can come to your appointment at the Radboudumc. If you have answered 'yes' 1 or more times, please contact the department of your appointment yourself to discuss whether the appointment can go ahead, be digitally or by phone, or have to be rescheduled.  

Do a self-test just before coming to the hospital

You can also be infected with the coronavirus without having any symptoms. We therefore ask you to do a preventive self-test just before you come to the hospital. This reduces your risk of coming to the hospital with a corona infection without noticing it. If the self-test is positive, call the department where you have an appointment to discuss what to do. If you find out on the way to the hospital that your self-test is positive, report it immediately at the entrance. 

Wear a mask where required

In the Radboudumc, it is compulsory for everyone from the age of 9 to wear a mouth mask in outpatient clinics, examination departments, treatment departments, nursing wards and in waiting rooms. This is to protect the vulnerable patients who also visit us. This means that you do not have to wear an oral mask in all general areas, such as the (main) entrance, corridors, stairs, elevators and the restaurant.

If you have fragile health, we do recommend that you wear a mask everywhere, especially in the elevator. Also, if you have a cold, sore throat or flu symptoms, please wear an oral mask everywhere in the hospital.

We hand out medical masks at the entrance.

Are you being admitted to the hospital?

Many of the planned admissions are going ahead. Despite this, because of shortage in staff, it may happen that we have to cancel your appointment at the last minute and postpone care. We are aware that postponing your admission can be very frustrating for you and your loved ones, especially if this becomes known shortly before your planned admission. Nevertheless, we ask for your understanding. This also applies to your contact with our staff, both in the hospital and on the telephone.

Answer the questions about your health

If you are admitted, we will call you in advance and ask you some questions about your health. You can also view the questions yourself on our website. These questions are important to keep the Radboudumc as safe an environment as possible. We therefore ask you to answer the questions carefully and honestly. Even if you have been vaccinated against corona, it is necessary to answer these questions.

If you answer one or more questions with yes, we will take a PCR test from you. While waiting for the test result, we will admit you in isolation. 

Take a self-test before your visit to the hospital

You can also be infected with the coronavirus without having any symptoms. We therefore ask you to do a preventive self-test right before you come to the hospital. This will reduce the risk of you coming to the hospital unaware of a corona infection. If the self-test is positive, call the department where you will be admitted to discuss what to do. If you find out on the way to the hospital that your self-test is positive, report it immediately at the entrance.  

If you are admitted because of an operation, do the self-test one day before admission and contact us immediately if the result is positive. If it is negative, take a second self-test just before coming to the hospital.

You will not wear the face mask in your own room unless you have visitors. Then both you and your visitors will have a mask on, even if your loved ones are visiting.

Are you a visitor or companion of a patient?

The corona measure of 1.5 meters distance no longer applies at the Radboudumc, so there are no longer any restrictions on the numbers of visitors and companions accompanying patients. But for many of our vulnerable patients, an infection with the coronavirus is still dangerous. We want to provide these patients with the safest possible environment. Therefore, we ask for the cooperation of everyone who visits the Radboudumc. Will you help us protect our patients?

Unfortunately we cannot welcome you as a companion or visitor if:

• You or someone living with you has been infected with the coronavirus
• You or someone living with you is showing symptoms of the coronavirus
• In the past 10 days, you have been in contact with someone who tested positively on the coronavirus

You can also fill out the corona questionnaire on our website to find out if you are welcome or not.

We understand that limiting the number of visitors and companions is a difficult measure. This is why we also offer options for you to accompany or visit your loved one from a distance. Read more about this below.

  During the visit, keep the mask on. Even when you are sitting at the bedside of the person you are visiting and even if it is in a single room. You will wear the mask until you leave the hospital's care unit.

• Alternatives for visitors and companions

  We understand that restricting visitors and companions is a difficult measure. Both for our patients and for their loved ones. Together we will look for other opportunities to accompany or visit your loved ones at a distance, where possible.

  During appointments

  • As a patient, you can include an important loved one in your appointment by telephone. Calling your partner, family member, or friend and putting them on speaker during your appointment is always permitted. This allows your loved ones to listen in and comment or ask a question.
  • If you want, you can record the meeting on your mobile phone so you can listen to it together later on.
  • You can also ask your healthcare provider to record the meeting.

  During admission

  • A tablet will be available in every department. If you do not have a mobile phone or tablet yourself, then you can use this to keep in touch with your loved ones. Our employees are happy to help you.
