Research Research groups Translational cardiovascular research

About this research group

This research group studies the impact of nucleoside transport inhibitors on vascular actions of adenosine and ischemia reperfusion injury. It also studies the expression and pharmacological modulation of endothelial transporters and their role in vascular inflammation and atherosclerosis.

Aims

Our aim is to translate preclinical cardiovascular findings to effective cardiovascular therapy in humans. Research focusses on interventions in vascular purine signaling (mainly adenosine) and vascular drug transporters in relation to prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis and its consequences.
