We are looking for a proactive project coordinator for the SIMPATHIC project. This project recently received 8.8M euros from HorizonEurope. As a project coordinator you support the scientific leads at Radboud University Medical Center (Radboudumc), Nijmegen, and Amsterdam University Medical Center in the day-to-day oversight of administrative, financial and operational functions. You are co-responsible for the project’s success by monitoring its progress, safeguarding its strategic focus and supporting the submission of clinical trial protocols and regulatory documents. Will you take on this challenge?
The SIMPATHIC project: Drug repurposing is a key strategy in the development of therapies for rare disease patients with large unmet medical needs. Reductions in time and costs compared to traditional drug development are important assets of drug repurposing strategies. Yet, the path from discovery of repurposing candidates to patient access is still slow and arduous. The SIMPATHIC consortium aims to accelerate drug repurposing for rare neurological, neurometabolic and neuromuscular disorders. SIMPATHIC moves away from the one-disease-one-drug paradigm and proposes to let larger groups of patients across medical domains benefit from existing medicines. This goal will be achieved through parallel preclinical and clinical development of drug repurposing candidates targeting a group of rare disorders with different genetic diagnoses but overlapping clinical symptoms and shared molecular pathomechanisms. A clinical trial will be part of the studies. As a project coordinator, you will assist the clinical researchers with the submission of trial protocols and regulatory documents.
The position is funded by a Horizon Europe grant to the SIMPATHIC consortium and is immediately available (approximately 0.5 fulltime equivalent; 4 years; with flexible working hours and hybrid working arrangements). You may be appointed in Radboudumc or Amsterdam UMC.
In the SIMPATHIC project, you will work in a highly international environment and work closely together with laboratory- data- and clinical scientists and a large network of university and industry partners and patient organisations. Regular meetings in Amsterdam are forseen; international travel is only required occasionally. You will report directly to the project coordinators: Peter-Bram ‘t Hoen and Clara van Karnebeek.
Tasks and responsibilities
As a project coordinator you coordinate the day to day operations of the project, which will include, but are not limited to:
- Taking the lead in planning, coordination and monitoring of project activities within stated budgets and timeframes.
- Handling the project related (financial) administration.
- Helping build positive relations and keeping all members of the consortium and relevant stakeholders up-to-date with relevant project information, including dissemination of results.
- Scheduling and organizing meetings / events.
- Contributing to knowledge dissemination & communication via newsletters, social media feeds and presentations.
- Creating and maintaining updated project records, reports, documentation for clinical trials, presentations and proposals.
