The Kidney Physiology group at the Radboudumc aims to decipher the pathophysiological mechanisms of ion transport disorders. By identification of genes involved in kidney tubulopathies, we aim to increase our understanding of the molecular mechanisms of ion reabsorption in the kidney. You will contribute to our research by performing laboratory work. Are you the technician to join us? We would like to get to know you!
Embedded in the department of Medical BioSceinces of Radboudumc, we study the regulation of ion transport by the kidney, as well as, the role of minerals in diabetes mellitus type 2 and chronic kidney disease.
The development of next-generation diagnostics and innovative functional methods to measure ion transport are essential to diagnose and to understand kidney tubulopathies. We envision that patient-specific models are the future of pathophysiological research. Personalized drug screening to identify therapeutics that fit the needs of individual patients will become the new standard for treatment of rare diseases.
You will be responsible for performing the most common laboratory work in kidney physiology. Your main tasks will include:
- Molecular biology (e.g. Construction of DNA plasmids).
- Culture and transfection of various mammalian cell lines.
- Biochemical techniques (e.g. Western Blot, Protein Precipitation).
- Immunohistochemistry.
- Implementation of new techniques and supporting existing projects.

The department of Medical BioSciences provides an international and stimulating working environment and is an exciting place to perform translational and clinical research and enjoy teaching. The department has complementary research groups whose interests range from cardiovascular disease, molecular regulation of ion transport processes in the kidney to the study of metabolism in the body. Working collaboratively within the department, we use our expertise to investigate how molecules, cells, organisms and humans function and how we might modulate their physiology to ultimately improve health of kidney patients. This project will be executed in the Kidney Physiology group, which is part of the 3D Biology and Kidney Disorders Research Programs within the Radboudumc.
