The department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine of the Radboud University Medical Center, Nijmegen, The Netherlands, is seeking a IT Support Officer Research to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to have an impact on the field by ensuring the translation our state-of-the-art research in radiology into the clinicians workflow.

In this position, you will be responsible for the IT support forour radiologists and scientific researchers in conducting their scientific research. This research always involves medical imaging data (DICOM, PACS). Your responsibilities will include supporting users, diagnosing and fixing technical issues, translating research questions into technical requirements, creating educational modules, maintaining installations, and quality assurance of new features.

Furthermore, you will be responsible to further professionalize and optimize the IT related aspects of data management, which includes for example data collection, maintaining data archives, data processing, data storage, data analysis, and anonymization. You will work in the Research Bureau, and work in close collaboration with the RSE team. You will be supervised by Barbara Janssen and James Meakin


We are looking for a self-motivated technical support officer with an interest in medical imaging. You should have a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience. The ideal candidate would additionally:
  • Be motivated to work on a health care department/ in a health care institution;
  • Have a working knowledge of English and Dutch;
  • Have excellent communication skills, able to work with patience and diplomacy, able to clearly communicate with both technical and non-technical users;
  • Have technical knowledge of windows and web based software;
  • Be good at identifying, analyzing and solving problems or errors;
  • A pragmatic problem solver;
  • Have experience with a scripting language, knowledge of Python would be an advantage.


Research Bureau Radiology and Nuclear Medicine
This team is a group of about 10 professionals with different fields of expertise. Our mission is to support and facilitate our researchers in conducting scientific research in the broadest sense of the word. We do this by unburdening them and guiding them in the field of legislation and regulations as well as internal policies. Also, we assist our researchers with all (technical) aspects of their research and data management. All of this we do while maintaining efficiency. We are a growing team striving for top quality and service. This we stimulate in an open and collegial atmosphere.

Research Software Engineering  Team (RSE Team)
The Research Software Engineering Team is part of the Diagnostic Image Analysis group (DIAG) and has expertise in software engineering and is specialized in research that is driven by robust and reproducible software. This software is made open source where appropriate and published in academic journals. We aim to have a direct impact on healthcare by translating the (research) software developed by DIAG and the RSE Team into clinical workflows for our in-house radiologists, pathologists, and ophthalmologists.
