Job description

We invite applications for a staff scientist in molecular neuroscience in the department of cognitive neuroscience (CNS). The candidate should be an expert in molecular neuroscientific methods for rodent research, including protein, RNA and DNA analyses such as immunohistochemistry, Western blotting, ELISA, transcriptomics and qPCR. Moreover, experience in imaging techniques and data analyses, including light-sheet imaging data (following iDISCO+), and morphometric analyses using Neurolucida is preferred. A main responsibility of the candidate is to support molecular neuroscientific research at the department level, and remain updated with and implement the latest developments in the field.

The studies will be conducted at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition & Behaviour and Radboud university medical center.

Profile

The ideal candidate will have strong social skills and a preference to work in a team. You have the capacity to participate in an interdisciplinary, international, and translational research environment. You are fluent in written and spoken English. Furthermore, you recognize yourself in the following profile:

  • A PhD in neuroscience/neurobiology or a directly related field.
  • Experience with molecular neuroscience techniques for rodent research (such as IHC, Western blot, ELISA, RNA/DNA isolation, transcripomics, qPCR, iDISCO+, etc.).
  • Experience with (light-sheet) microscopy and imaging data analyses.
  • An interest in further developing these techniques and expanding the scope of application
  • Experience and interest in advising and supporting users in implementing these techniques.

Terms of employment

Working at Radboud university medical center means that you are ahead of the curve and working together on the healthcare of the future. But there is more. Our secondary terms of employment are impressive. These are fully tailored to you thanks to our Employment Conditions Selection Model. At Radboud university medical center, you will be given trust, and you will take the responsibility to handle everything together. We provide annual courses, both professional and personal.

  • In addition to your monthly salary and an annual vacation allowance of 8%, you will receive an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
  • If you work irregular hours, you will receive an allowance (47% or 72%) for this.
  • As a full-time employee, you are entitled to approximately 168 vacation hours (over 23 days) per year.
  • Radboud university medical center pays 70% of the pension premium. You pay the rest of the premium with your gross salary.
  • You get a discount on health insurance as well: you can take advantage of two group health insurance plans. UMC Zorgverzekering and CZ collectief.
