To exploit the opportunities that Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers for optimizing MR-guided radiotherapy, the Radboud AI for Health team is looking for a specialist and researcher in AI technology at the level from postdoc to assistant professor in a 5-year tenure track.
In this challenging and new position you will develop a long-term research line on AI optimization of MR-guided radiotherapy. As a leading researcher you will closely work together with the medical staff of the Radboudumc department of Radiotherapy, and you will be supported by 2 PhD positions. Your focus will be on doing research and effectuate groundbreaking innovations in AI for healthcare in your field. This in an international team of highly skilled and inspiring specialists with the ambition to significantly improve the quality of care by using AI technology. At the same time, as an inspiring teacher, you will share your knowledge with our PhD’s and master students and participate in developing new educational courses.
An integrated system of linear accelerator and a MRI scanner (MR-linac) has recently been installed at the department of Radiotherapy. This MR-linac scanner allows for continuous MR imaging during treatment as part of an adaptive workflow. The ultimate goal of this line of research is to optimally adjust the radiotherapy treatment in real-time, using deep learning analysis of the MR images that were acquired before the start of the treatment and during each fraction of the treatment.
The focus will be on deep learning segmentation of the tumor and surrounding normal organs and structures during the entire treatment cycle, and on a time-scale of minutes, during an individual treatment session. Based on the results of these analyses, the treatment can be optimized by adapting the daily target delineation and dosing. The integration of (anatomical, biological and functional) imaging in radiation treatment planning and delivery protocols as part of an adaptive workflow, is one of the spearheads of the department.

Terms of employment
- In addition to your monthly salary and an annual vacation allowance of 8%, you will receive an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
- As a full-time employee, you are entitled to approximately 168 vacation hours (over 23 days) per year.
- Radboud university medical center pays 70% of the pension premium. You pay the rest of the premium with your gross salary.
