Ensuring sound methodology in the design of a study is crucial for obtaining valid results. This course focuses on the design of clinical research. Topics covered include formulating a research question, choosing an appropriate research design, selecting the study population, types of bias, and causality. With this unique course, we provide participants with concrete tools to optimize a study’s research design and data collection and to critically evaluate scientific articles.

The course consists of four days. Each day focuses on an epidemiological topic related to research or a clinical issue. The course combines interactive presentations with small-group and individual assignments. Under the guidance of experienced epidemiologists, you will learn to apply this knowledge to scientific articles and your own professional practice. You will also have the opportunity to consult with instructors and refine the methodology of your own research.
