News items Indira Tendolkar appointed department head of Psychiatry

Prof. Dr. Indira Tendolkar has been appointed head of the Department of Psychiatry. Indira has been with the department since November 2020 as department head ad interim and formed the leadership of Psychiatry together with Hendrik Ermers. She has been intensely committed to the department during the sickbed and also after the death of former department head and highly esteemed colleague Prof. Dr. Aart Schene. 

Indira has been with the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour since 2003, in 2018 she became a member of the Executive Board. Since October 2019, she became Professor of Clinical neuroscience in psychiatry at the Radboudumc. She is an expert in the field of diagnostics and treatment methods in psychiatry and moves at the interface of research and treatment. She applies new research insights in diagnostics and treatment, especially in stress-related mental disorders.

Attention for mental health

Indira on her appointment: 'To have a significant impact on health(care), that is what we strive for at the Radboudumc. I am convinced that good health care cannot exist without attention to the mental aspect. And I am therefore eager to see how we as healthcare professionals can make a positive contribution to the mental health of our patients. As ad interim head of department I have already been associated with the department for the past period, I would like to thank the colleagues for the trust they have given me during a turbulent period and I am looking forward to the future with energy.'

The Board of Directors is grateful for Indira's efforts during the past period and wish her every success in her position as Head of Department.
