News items Visit Radboudumc at the Kids Square during the Four Days Marches Festivities

22 June 2026

Step into the shoes of a real dentist in our Dental Workshop. Here you’ll learn everything about teeth and oral health. Drill cavities and fill teeth yourself. Or are you more creative? Try carving your name into a plate or craft your own tooth box. Radboudumc will once again be at the Kids Square during the Four Days Marches festivities, where there are activities for children and young people all week long.

At Mariënburgplein, there will be a festive children’s program for ages 3–12 at the Kids Square from Saturday 18 to Tuesday 21 July during the Four Days Marches festivities. On Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 July, there will be an exciting program for ages 12+ at the Youth Square. View the full program here.

Music and stories at the Kids Stage

At the Kids Stage, Bibliotheek Gelderland Zuid, LUX, the House of Nijmegen History, and the Regional Archive Nijmegen offer a packed program. Listen to stories, come dance and sing, and ask scientists anything you like during the children’s podcast Professorproef. Astronaut André Kuipers will also talk about his space journey.

Technology and experiments in the Kids Lab

The Kids Lab is the perfect place for curious children aged 3–12 to experiment and learn about science, research, discoveries, and technology. Radboudumc will be here on Sunday 19 and Monday 20 July from 13:00–17:00 with the Dental Workshop. Put on a coat and experience what a day as a dentist is like. Or check out your own teeth with a 3D scan and learn how to keep them healthy.

The Kids Lab introduces children to future innovations in a playful way. Radboudumc, Radboud University, innovation platform Innovate, and Nijmegen-based companies MakerCosmos, GreenKarting, Haskoning, Modderkolk, and Techoforum offer a varied program for four consecutive days.

Pink Wednesday Youth!

On Pink Wednesday, there is a special program for young people aged 12 to 18, and Mariënburgplein, the library, and LUX transform into a large, vibrant space full of rainbow colors, creativity, and freedom.

Technology, games, sports, and movement at the Youth Square

On Thursday 23 July, young people can discover exergaming—gaming and exercising at the same time—in the tent of HAN University of Applied Sciences, combined with the latest Virtual Reality technologies. You can take a health check or score goals at the N.E.C. penalty wall. In addition, at HAN, NXP, and Nexperia, young people can explore their technical talent in interactive workshops: solder your own glowing spinner or make a fruit battery and light a lamp. Puzzle and escape room enthusiasts can join the ADHD Escape – The Big Broadcast by Donders Institute & Radboudumc at LUX (reservation required).

Collaboration between Nijmegen organizations

The program at Mariënburgplein is a collaboration between the following organizations from the Lifeport region: Radboudumc, Radboud University, Donders Institute, HAN University of Applied Sciences, Bibliotheek Gelderland Zuid, LUX, House of Nijmegen History, Regional Archive Nijmegen, Municipality of Nijmegen, Gezondrijk Nijmegen, innovation platform Innovate, The Economic Board, and companies NXP, Nexperia, MakerCosmos, GreenKarting, Haskoning, Modderkolk, and Techoforum.

Together, they offer six consecutive days of an extensive, unique, and varied program covering education, research, culture, history, sports, technology, and innovation. They encourage children and young people to participate, learn, discover, and experience. In doing so, they showcase what the Lifeport Region Arnhem Nijmegen has to offer: innovation with impact in the fields of technology, health, and talent development.
