The citizen council will lead to a pamphlet, which will be discussed in a conference with policy makers and stakeholders in the beginning of 2018.

The section HTA initiates a citizen panel on making choices in health care (burgerforum ‘keuzes in de zorg’) in the months September-October. During three weekends, 24 citizens will concur in a hotel near Utrecht, and will debate the coverage of medical treatments in the basic benefit package in The Netherlands, including the underlying values and principles they find important. This includes questions as to whether society as a whole should pay for gastric bypass for overweight people, or for cosmetic dental care. The citizen council will lead to a pamphlet, which will be discussed in a conference with policy makers and stakeholders in the beginning of 2018.
