23 November 2017

After two successful editions of ‘Meet your PhD’ in the Biomedical Sciences Bachelor’s program, we organize now a third edition.

The goal of the program is for first years’ BMS students to gain experience in daily research practice and to reflect on their professional ambitions.  Therefore we need PhD candidates who welcome one or a couple of BSc students in their research groups and accommodate them for a week on the work floor.

In order to raise the participation of PhD candidates, the financial compensation is doubled this year. If you participate in this programme, the department receives 1000 Euro per BSc student (available before the summer of 2018).  Hopefully this financial compensation benefits the opportunities for PhD candidates within the departments of the Radboudumc to attend an international conference or other scientific meeting within their specific field of expertise. By this means, the RHA hopes that the programme contributes to the professional orientation of BSc students as well as the further development of PhD candidates.

During the ‘Meet your PhD’ program, first year bachelor students Biomedical Sciences will join PhDs/research group/department as part of their career orientation. BSC students will ask questions, such as:
-          How does daily research practice look like?
-          What are the possibilities after graduation?
-          Does a specific field of expertise have my interest?

The internship periods will be:
1.      20 February – 27 February
2.      12 March – 16 March
3.      26 March – 30 March

We would like to invite you to participate as supervisor! If you or your research group are enthusiastic about supervising first year BMS BSc students, please contact us via Jeroen.vanDoorn@radboudumc.nl.
You choose yourself with how many colleagues you will supervise the students, what you want to offer them during the mini-internship and how many students you are willing to host in which of the mentioned period(s).
