The weekend of November 18/19, researchers from the Radboudumc showed their athletic abilities during the Zevenheuvelenloop, making big steps for kidney patients in the Netherlands.

PhD candidates from the RIMLS and RIHS graduate school met during the Dutch Kidney Foundation’s Winterschool in the beginning of 2017. After listening to an enthusing talk by Sanne Kooter they decided to join forces in order to raise money for the Dutch Kidney Foundation (DKF). They set up a team, the Radboud Runners, and by promising family, friends and colleagues to run 7 km during the atmospheric Zevenheuvelennacht or 15 km during the Zevenheuvelenloop, they aimed to collect  €2225 for kidney research.

This was the first affiliation of the DKF with both the Zevenheuvelenloop and the Zevenheuvelennacht, and we may speak of a great success; together with other enthusiastic runners the Radboud Runners collected more than €2900 sponsor money.
A large contribution to this success was the great collaboration between the organizing PhD candidates and the DKF, but real steps could be made thanks to all the sponsors. On behalf of the Dutch Kidney Foundation and kidney patients in the Netherlands- thank you for your support!

Radboud Runners and organizers: Eric Verschuren (Physiology), Meyke Hermsen (Pathology), Oscar Geessink (Pathology), Marloes Michels (Pediatric Nephrology), Coralien Vink (Nephrology), Lisanne Gommers (Physiology), Bart Smeets (Pathology), Luuk Hilbrands (Nephrology), Laura Miesen (Pathology), Jeroen van der Laak (Pathology), Anne Schijvens (Pediatric Nephrology), Sanne Kooter (DKF), Jean-Pierre Goessens (DKF)
