Christmas is traditionally a time of togetherness. The COVID-19 crisis prevents many social interactions. More even than to people who have lived here for years, this can be a blow in the face for people who are new in the Netherlands and can’t visit their family. Therefore, all researchers are asked to pay special attention to their peers, especially the international peers. Give a call, send a text, go for a walk in pairs (if needed).
There are some special programs to team up with peers, also from Radboud University. Examples (not only for Christmas) are:
- Social buddy program for international researchers to get acquainted to Nijmegen and the social and cultural habits of the Dutch. You can register as a buddy or as a new international researchers requesting a buddy
- Radboud Buddy box. Corona-proof social buddy program to promote social interaction during the COVID-19 measures
- Global PhD Support can couple you to an experienced buddy to talk about difficulties and stress, for example caused by the COVID-19 crisis
During the Christmas break, you can also email Francesca and be coupled to a fellow Radboudumc researcher who needs someone to talk to, too.
