Marieke Zegers researcher

Dr. Marieke Zegers completed her MSc in Health Science in 2004 and MSc in Epidemiology in 2007. In June 2009, she defended her PhD-thesis ‘Adverse events in Dutch hospitals’ at the ‘Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam’ (Faculty of Medicine). In 2010, she received a ZonMw Implementation Fellowship and worked as post doc researcher at the Scientific Institute for Quality of Healthcare (IQ healthcare), department of the Radboudumc. Since April 2016, she is senior researcher at the departments of Intensive Care Medicine and IQ healthcare.The focus of her research is quality and safety of health care and the cost-effectiveness of ICU care (zinvolle IC-zorg). She is project leader of the MONITOR-IC study, Experiment ZIRE (Zinvolle Registratie) and Shared Decision Making in the ICU and supervises several (PhD) students. Her research projects feature quantitative and qualitative research methods. Within the projects, she works together with clinicians, researchers, health care managers and policy makers from institutes and universities in the Netherlands and abroad.
