The researchers will establish an organ-on-chip in vitro platform, on which pluripotent stem cells of patients with epilepsy can be cultivated. Using this organ-on-chip platform, the researchers will be able to measure neuron network activity of these individual patients. This tool will be optimised so that is can be used for testing compounds allowing for precision therapy.
Donders researchers will receive around 200.000 euros from the Dutch Epilepsiefonds for a research project about personalized treatment of epilepsy.
In this project, researcher Nael Nadif Kasri from the Donders Institute at Radboudumc, ACE Kempenhaeghe and Maastricht UMC collaborate. The researchers will establish an organ-on-chip in vitro platform, on which pluripotent stem cells of patients with epilepsy can be cultivated.
