Zielhuis was the impetus behind the Parelsnoer (Pearl Necklace), an initiative for the development of biobanks in which hospitals collect clinical data for specific patient groups. Over the past few years, Professor Zielhuis has distinguished himself as a scientific researcher, lecturer, and director at an extraordinary level. One of several ways he showed this was as the Director of Research at Radboud university medical center (2006 to 2009), where he played a significant role in research structuring at the institutes.
