André Marquand, theme Neurodevelopmental disorders, has been awarded an ERC Consolidator Grant. With this grant of two million euros, he can develop a new research project.
In this new research project, called MENTALPRECISION, he will develop a set of AI-based analysis tools to stratify mental disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder on the basis of brain imaging and smartphone monitoring.
More specifically, he will use the 'brain growth-charting' techniques developed at the Donders Institute to model biological profiles that confer resilience or risk for mental disorders and combine these with real-time measurements of patterns of behaviour that operate on the underlying biology. His ultimate goal is to stratify mental disorders at the level of the individual patient in order to more accurately predict outcome, to develop better, personalised treatments and to provide a better understanding of these disorders.
