In this study, we are investigating how well different medications slow down the body's aging process. We will examine a total of three different medications, both alone and in combinations of two medications. These medications are already used by doctors in the Netherlands for certain diseases. We compare the effect of these medications with a group of people who do not receive these medications. Participants are assigned by lottery (randomization) to one of six groups, with one group receiving no medication.
What is the background of the study?
Aging is a complex process influenced by, among other things, genes. Genes are small pieces of our hereditary material (our DNA) that contain instructions for making substances the body needs, such as proteins. In addition, the environment and chemical changes in the body also play a role in aging. All these factors can damage cells, reduce the body's ability to repair itself, and make people more susceptible to diseases.
The immune system also changes with age, and its effectiveness gradually declines. Some people age faster, others slower. Aging faster can increase the risk of disease and cause diseases to be more severe.

- Are you between 40 and 70 years old? If answered yes, then question 2.
- Have you received any of the following diagnoses from a doctor:
- immunodeficiency or an autoimmune disease
- rheumatoid arthritis, another form of rheumatic disease
- heart failure
- diabetes
- previous diagnosis of cancer or active cancer condition
- current or former long-term smoker
- kidney or liver disease
Treatment
In this study, we are testing anti-aging medications. Previous scientific research indicates that these medications might have beneficial effects on the immune system and could slow down aging. However, this has not been studied well enough. That is why we are conducting this study. If you were to participate in the study, you will be followed for approximately 3 months. You must use the medicines every day for 3 months.
