Allard Hosman' research activities are related to spine surgery, especially in relation to treatment of traumatic spinal cord injury, the metastatic or infectious involvement of the spine and spinal deformities of the spine. The interest in spinal surgery started during his training as an orthopedic surgeon. After his certification as orthopedic surgeon in 2002, through contact with neurosurgeons, his clinical interest in complex spinal surgery was broadened. Allard Hosman was also trained in Munich ( Germany) and Cape Town ( Suid Afrika). Basic epidemiological training contributed to his interest in research such as meta analytic studies and studies related to the efficacy of treatments The main focus of research is on spinal cord injuries. Currently, he coordinating principal investigator of the SCI-POEM study and Chair of the Spine Unit.
