About Hanny Pijnenborg

Johanna (Hanny) MA Pijnenborg is a gynecological oncologist at the Radboud University Medical Center Nijmegen (NL). She completed her OBGYN training in 2004 at the Maastricht University Medical Center, and defended her thesis “The Predictive value of molecular markers for recurrent endometrial carcinoma” in 2005. As a general gynecologist she focused on minimal invasive surgery, and gynecological oncology, and did her fellow-ship gynecological oncology at the Radboud university medical center (2009-2010). Part of her fellow-ship she worked at the British Columbia Cancer Agency in Vancouver BC, Canada (2010). After completion of her training she was chair of the Gynecological Oncology Center South, a large clinical oncology network in the South of the Netherlands. In 2017 she started as gynecological oncologist in Nijmegen where she initiated the endometrial research group in 2010. Her main research focus is translational research in endometrial cancer. In 2012 she joined ENITEC, and since then is a very active member of the ENITEC group with several ongoing collaborative studies both within the Radboudumc, RIMLS and within the ENITEC network. Main research projects: 1. Preoperative risk stratificiaton by Bayesian network (ENDORISK) (Dutch Cancer Society grant 2017), 2. Improving preoperative diagnosis in endometrial cancer (PIPENDO-study), 3. Prediction of response to hormonal treatment in advanced and recurrent endometrial cancer (PROMOTE-study), 4. Patient perspectives within ENITEC-network (PATIENCe-study). Hanny is chair of European Network of Individualized Treatment in Endometrial Cancer since June 2019.
