About Harry Dolstra

Harry Dolstra was born in Smallingerland, the Netherlands and studied Biology at the University in Utrecht where he obtained his Master’s degree in 1993 in molecular biology and cellular immunology. He obtained his PhD degree (cum laude) in 1999 from the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Nijmegen, whereupon he completed his post-doctorate work at the Radboud university medical center and the Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy at  University of Birmingham, UK. In 2003, he finished his tenure and started his own research group as assistant professor and became immunologist at the Cell therapy processing facility of the Laboratory for Hematology of the Department of Laboratory Medicine, Radboud university medical center. Here, he established his translational research program exploiting stem cell transplantation and cellular immunotherapy to fight cancer. In 2015, Harry Dolstra became associate professor in Translational Immunohematology, in 2017 director of the Cell therapy processing facility, and in 2023 full professor in Translational Immunohematology at the Radboud University. His contributions to science have been recognized with numerous awards and international lectures, including the Herman Boerhaave award in the field of Hematology (2000), Leukemia research awards from the Bekales foundation (2000, 2004), Radboud Principal Investigator awards (2009, 2014, 2017, 2020, 2023), Translational adult stem cell award (2009) and George Santos award for best clinical article for which I was senior author from the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (2014).
