About Jonne Doorduin

I am a clinician and scientist with a strong background in neurophysiology, respiratory physiology and bioengineering. I am a medical staff member at the department of Neurology of the Radboud university medical center.

In my lab I work at the cross-road between skeletal muscle physiology, respiratory physiology, neuromuscular diseases and critical illness. Developing technologies and methods for the characterization of neuromuscular structure and function is an important part of my scientific work. My current research projects focus on quantitative muscle ultrasound, assessment of impaired muscle relaxation, diaphragm pacing, respiratory muscle ultrasound (speckle tracking and shear wave elastography), respiratory muscle training, neural control of breathing and respiratory muscle function in critically ill patients. I lead a team of PhD students and technicians.

My clinical work entails the diagnostic workup of patients with a neuromuscular disease and intra-operative neuromonitoring. I have extensive experience with mapping and monitoring of cerebral function, brainstem and cranial nerve function and spine procedures.
