About Marinus de Kleuver

Professor Marinus de Kleuver was Head of the Orthopedics Department, Orthopedic Surgeon, and Spine Surgeon at Radboudumc from October 2016 to March 2023. From July 2022 to January 1, 2025, he was Medical Director of the Center for Trauma, Reconstruction, and Movement.

From 1998, he pursued a clinical career in spinal surgery at the Sint Maartenskliniek and in 2011 became Professor of Spinal Surgery at the VU Medical Center (Amsterdam). He completed an International Executive Program (IEP) at INSEAD Business School (2006, France) and was Director of the Orthopedic Center at the Sint Maartenskliniek from 2007 to 2012.

His clinical work and research currently focus on the surgical and non-surgical treatment of spinal curvatures and growth disorders in children and adults, and lower back pain. Most of his research is aimed at evaluating results and improving care.

He obtained a PhD in 1998 (awarded the Mathijssen Prize by the Dutch Orthopaedic Association) and is co-author of more than 130 peer-reviewed publications and several book chapters. He is past president of the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) and former chair of the AOSpine Knowledge Forum for Spinal Deformity. He has traveled extensively and has given live demonstrations of surgeries in India and China.
