Martijn de Groot (1975) is a medical biologist and teacher with working experience in science, management and innovation. After his PhD research he has worked as a researcher, lecturer and innovator of higher education and research programs for the University Medical Center Groningen, the Premedical University (Medical Science Groningen) and the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen. He has a special interest in the integration of technology and biology. He has broad knowledge of health, medicine, biology, technology, philosophy, and natural sciences. His focused attention goes to personalized digital health with special interest in single-subject designed research (n-of-1) and self-tracking. He served as co-founding director of the Quantified Self Institute from its launch in 2012 till 2017 and subsequently as a public speaker and independent researcher on digital health, personalized science, and innovation. In 2018 he started as head of the REshape Center on innovation in and around RadboudUMC regarding health(care) and wellness. REshape merged with iLab in 2021 and continued as Health Innovation Labs. Martijn currently works as one of the two leading managers of this newly formed innovation departement who serves to suppor Radboudumc and partners by strengthening innovation capacity.
