Martijn Huijnen full professor

Martijn is full professor at CMBI and interested in research around comparative genomics and molecular biology. He investigates how to exploit the wealth of genomic information that includes complete genome data, expression data, proteomics data and protein interaction data to obtain a better understanding of the working of the cell at a molecular level. Development of both concepts and protocols to turn noisy genomics data into reliable predictions of protein function and pathways, as well using these protocols to study specific biomolecular systems, such as the mitochondria, are among his main interests.

Field of study

Centre for Molecular and Biomolecular Informatics

Research group Comparative genomics

Martijn Huijnen's research group exploits the wealth of ‘omics data to predict the function of proteins and their involvement in protein complexes and pathways. It thereby specifically focuses on the molecular systems that are of biomedical relevance.
