Developing new treatments requires collaboration across many stages of the long and challenging drug development process: from early discovery to clinical application. To strengthen collaboration across this process, Radboudumc researchers are invited to participate in the 4D-Map for Drug Discovery, Development and Deployment, an initiative of PharmaNL.
The 4D-Map is an online tool that provides insight into the availability and demand of research infrastructure and expertise, as well as the related training needs of pharmaceutical companies and academic institutions. The tool aims to map existing capabilities and identify gaps in the Dutch drug development landscape. This overview helps researchers, companies, and other stakeholders identify opportunities for collaboration and make better use of available resources.
Participation in the project involves an interview in which we discuss the stages of drug development you are involved in, the infrastructure and expertise you could make available to external partners, and the skills and infrastructure required for your research. The collected information is structured according to the different phases of the drug development process and visualised in an online dashboard that is available to all parties that have contributed to the tool. This dashboard functions as a matchmaking tool that helps researchers from different organisations in the Netherlands connect. Ultimately, this collaborative approach may help accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into innovative therapies that benefit patients.
Contributing to the 4D-Map offers several advantages. It increases the visibility of your expertise and research infrastructure to both public and private partners across the Netherlands. In addition, it provides insight into the needs of companies and other research organizations, which may lead to new collaborations, contract research opportunities, and opportunities for offering post academic education. Radboudumc researcher Prof. Roland Brock has already successfully used the 4D-Map to create future-proof education that meets the needs of the professional field.
