Research News Travel grant for women postdocs

1 September 2026

The LNVH Distinguished Women Scientists Fund offers grants of up to €1,500 for women postdocs in the Netherlands who want to strengthen their research through a stay abroad.

The grant is intended for postdocs from all disciplines who obtained their PhD no more than three years before September 15, 2026. Researchers at universities, university medical centers, and research institutes in the Netherlands are eligible. Extensions to the three-year period may apply, for example due to parenthood, caregiving, career breaks, or part-time appointments.

Funding can be used for activities such as data collection, research visits, or collaboration with colleagues abroad. Conference attendance alone is not eligible, although it may be part of a broader research visit. Applicants should explain why the trip is important for their current research and career development, and why the objective cannot be achieved in the Netherlands.

The maximum grant is €1,500 and must be used during the 2026–2027 academic year, with travel possible until November 2027. A short letter or email from the host confirming the planned visit is required.

Application deadline: September 15, 2026. Applicants will be informed about the outcome in October.
