Inspired by the celebration of Postdoc Appreciation Week in among others USA, UK and Germany, Postdoc Support Staff from Dutch Academic institutes, incl. Amsterdam UMC, Erasmus MC, Radboud UMC, MUMC+, UMCG, RUG and Postdoc NL created a dedicated programme to honour our hardworking Postdocs. This very first edition of Postdoc Appreciation Week NL (PAW-NL) aims to create attention to the vital position of Postdocs in academia and their successes, as well as to their perspective, broad potential and needs for a successful future within and beyond the academic path. The Postdoc Appreciation Week is organized from 15 to 19 September.
16 September 2025 | Information session: Talent Tracks within Radboudumc
As part of the fit for the future transition, we have invited Dagmar Eleveld- Trancikova, the scientific secretary of the talent track committee, to give an update on the different talent tracks and answer questions that we might have. The event is open to all postdocs and includes a free lunch.
17 September | Round table discussion with Guillen Fernandez
As postdocs we face specific challenges surrounding our career and future outlooks. Together with Guillen Fernandez, scientific director of the Radboud University Medical Center, we will talk about what it means to be a postdoc and any other topics that you might want to address. The event is open to all postdocs and includes coffee and pastries.
18 September | Workshop: A Scientist’s Path to a Non-Academic Job
As part of Postdoc Appreciation Week, we invite postdocs from Radboudumc, Radboud University, and the Donders Institute to attend a workshop led by Marlieke van Kesteren. Drawing from her own experience transitioning from a successful academic career to a role outside the university walls, Marlieke will share valuable insights, tips, and strategies to navigate this challenging but rewarding path. The event is open to all postdocs and offers a great opportunity to gain guidance and inspiration during Postdoc Appreciation Week.
19 September | Closing event: 'Postdocs Off Duty'
To conclude Postdoc Appreciation Week, we warmly invite all postdocs from Radboudumc, Radboud University, and the Donders Institute to a relaxed evening at Valdin Nijmegen.
This informal gathering is part of the “Postdocs Off Duty” series and offers a chance to unwind, connect with fellow postdocs across institutions, and celebrate your contributions to research and academia. Drinks and snacks will be provided.
