Research News Horizon Europe collaboration opportunities with Institute of Science Tokyo

23 June 2026

The Institute of Science Tokyo (IST) has expressed interest in exploring Horizon Europe research collaborations with colleagues at Dutch universities, particularly in the area of health.

The IST can be readily regarded as Japan’s top university focusing on medical (technology) research. It was established in 2024 as a brand-new national research university formed by the merger of two prominent institutions: The Tokyo Medical and Dental University and the Tokyo Institute of Technology.

Researchers from IST are actively seeking contacts in Europe and are open to bilateral meetings with interested counterparts to explore joint Horizon Europe applications.

For Health Sciences, relevant contact persons at IST appear to be Professor Fumihiko Ishikawa, Associate Professor Ayako Morita, and Associate Professor Wataru Hijikata.

Colleagues who see potential for research collaboration are invited to consider whether these opportunities may be relevant for their work or network.
