The Radboud Consortium for Glycoscience (RCG) organizes a series of seminars on various glycoscience-related topics. We regularly invite speakers from other research institutions to exchange ideas and research directions.

While CAR-T cell therapy has revolutionized treatment for blood cancers, its impact on solid tumors remains limited. Dr. Nele Festjens and her research group are taking an innovative route—targeting the glycocalyx, the sugar-rich coating on T-cells, to enhance CAR-T performance. By glyco-engineering CAR-T cells using CRISPR technology, they aim to overcome the complex barriers of the tumor microenvironment and unlock more durable, effective cancer immunotherapies. The title of her talk will be: N-Glycosylation engineering in chimeric antigen receptor T-cells'.
