25-years work anniversary of Frank Walboomers

On September 1st 2020 Frank Walboomers, associate professor at the research group Regenerative Biomaterials at the Dept. of Dentistry, theme Reconstructive & regenerative medicine, celebrated his 25th work anniversary at Radboudumc.

Frank obtained his M.Sc. degree in Biology in 1995 and earned his PhD degree in February 2000 after having defended his PhD thesis entitled “Engineered implant surfaces; modification of cell and tissue response by microgrooves” successfully. Since then Frank developed himself towards a highly valued staff member and head of the Dental Research Laboratory. As lab head Frank guided this laboratory in a very professional manner through two challenging lab moves during the renovation of the Dentistry building between 2015-2017.

Frank is strongly fascinated by the complex interaction between artificial materials and living cells and tissue. His current research interests range from surface modification of implants and imaging in regenerative medicine to cell biomechanics and the use of dental pulp stem cells for regenerative medicine. His broad interest, deep scientific knowledge as well as his constructive and positive attitude have greatly contributed to the success of the Regenerative Biomaterials group. His strong contribution to both this research group and the Dental Research Laboratory at large was celebrated on September 1st during a ceremony at the Department of Dentistry
