On the 14 and 15 of July, PhD candidates from the RIMLS could finally attend the live version of the PhD retreat!

The retreat included a keynote presentation by Prof. Dr. Hanneke Schuitemaker, Head of Virale Vaccines at Janssen, and a workshop held by the Institute for Failures.

Over 50 last year PhD candidates presented their work in specific groups, based on the RIMLS research themes: Renal Disorders, Immunology, Cancers, Microbiology and Medical advances.

The winners of the best presentations awards were Abidi Asima (“Dendritic cells to prevent cancer: Immune responses against neoantigens after dendritic cell vaccination of Lynch Syndrome patients”) and Sofie Tolmeijer (“Early on-treatment changes in circulating tumor DNA fraction and response to enzalutamide or abiraterone in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer”), while the winner for the best poster award was Lea Andrée (“Developing gelatin-based hydrogels with tunable viscoelasticity for cell culture”).

During the breaks and after the presentations, there was time to socialize – especially at the party, where the participants dressed up in superheroes.
