The Laboratory for Experimental Dermatology (Prof. Ellen van den Bogaard, theme Inflammatory Diseases) received a grant from the European Commission to partner Prof. Koen Venema (Maastricht University) and Prof. Jose Miguel Paloma Carmona (CSIC) to fortify the research programs of prof. dr Dejan Bezbradica (University of Belgrade, Serbia). Last month the project started with a kick-off meeting in Belgrade.
The TwinPrebioEnz project
In this three year project called TwinPrebioEnz (Twinning for intensified enzymatic processes for production of prebiotic-containing functional food and bioactive cosmetics; 1,466,680 EUR), the Radboudumc is WP-leader and provides expertise in analysis of skin microbiota and screen for the effects of prebiotics on skin health using the skin organoid systems developed by Ellen’s group. Radboudumc will also aid in strengthening the management capacities of the Serbian partners and form a scientific community to train young scientists and support staff mobility between the partner institutes.
