Robert Sauerwein full professor

Trained as medical specialist in clinical microbiology and immunology, I have a vested interest in translational research and clinical development of Plasmodium falciparum malaria vaccines. My entire research career that includes lab, clinical as well as field experience in Africa, has been focused on better understanding of malaria transmission and parasite/host interactions. For this purpose we have several types of vaccines in clinical development, improved the Controlled Human Malaria Infection (CHMI) model and several field sites in endemic countries.

Research group Malaria parasites

Robert Sauerwein's group focuses on the clinical development of plasmodium falciparum vaccines for control and elimination of malaria.
