We focus on the identification of new targets for cartilage destruction in rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, on the understanding the mechanisms of chronic inflammation and auto-immunity, and on the development of advanced therapeutics.
Our research is directed at refinement of prognostic predictions, ‘tight control’ strategies for tailored treatment algorithms in rheumatoid arthritis, and understanding patient and physician decision making processes. Research for systemic sclerosis is directed at early diagnosis and treatment and early detection of major complications.
The Disease Activity Score was developed here, and is used worldwide for the assessment of inflammatory activity in rheumatoid arthritis.
