CCD LicencesRadboudumc and Radboud University endorse openness about animal experiments. On this page, licenses for animal experiments issued by the Central Authority for Scientific Procedures on Animals (CCD) that are performed at the Radboudumc and the university are published.
All project license PDF files commence with the inventory of a previous Freedom of Information request (if present) and the project application form. On page 4/5 the actual project license application starts with the non-technical summary, followed by the project proposal and the appendices for all animal procedures. Last, the document contains the advice from the Ethical committee (DEC), all correspondence regarding the project and the final project license.
Privacy and property rightsIn the documents, sensitive information may be removed in accordance with the Public Access to Government Information Act (Wet openbaarheid van bestuur or 'Wob').
This is done because publication of personal information violates the privacy of employees and/or because once it is published, the intellectual property of a research strategy can no longer be protected. Having this information in the public domain makes it possible for others to follow and work according to the same scientific mindset.
Therefore, more details are made public in a later stage. After the research project is completed, the investigators will publish the results in the scientific literature and in many cases also inform the media about their conclusions. Thus everyone can benefit from the knowledge acquired during the project.
