Mass spectrometers for metabolomics
The Translational Metabolic Laboratory (TML) hosts an array of mass spectrometers for metabolomics in GC-MS and LC-MS setting. We have Maldi,- Triple-quadrupole- and Qtof mass spectrometers.
TML is specialized in metabolite analyses in body fluids of patients in the context of diagnostics of inborn errors of metabolism. Studies with stable isotope labeling are possible. Sensitivity limits of the mass spectrometry techniques are typically in the low micromolar range for triple-quadrupole analyses and in the low nanomolar range for the Qtof mass spectrometry.
In addition, our laboratory has high field strength NMR spectrometer also suited for metabolomics purposes in complex matrices.
