Driving forces in medical sciences
Our professors hold important academic positions. They provide academic leadership that gives substantive direction to our three core tasks (patient care, education and research) and they serve as role models for our colleagues and students.

Radboudumc offers special career paths for academic professionals, the so-called "Career path for Academic Professionals" (CAP). Among these is the Scientific Career Path (SCP): a career path implemented for the research profile.
Below you will find concise information about the SCP and CAP. More detailed information can be found on the SCP main page.

For every researcher
Our SCP provides clarity, flexibility and sustainability. Tailored to both current and future researchers, and the ever-evolving research landscape, the path consists of effective steps for a future in research.
The SCP supports researchers at all career stages: from PhD candidates and postdocs, to senior researchers and professors. It is open for internal and external candidates, and designed to offer clear and supportive development pathways.
Talent Track (TT)
An important part of the SCP is the so-called Talent Track (TT). Within this track, researchers are given the opportunity to grow from postdoc to (associate) professor, with academic staff positions from researcher in Talent Track (TT1) and assistant professor in Talent Track (TT2) to associate professor.
Researchers in the Talent Track program receive career-specific development support from their department, HR, and the research institute. The program includes, among others, leadership development, strategic guidance (including funding strategies), personal development, and a mentorship program.
Research group leader (RGL)
Development does not stop once researchers are promoted to associate professor or (full) professor. Through tailor-made career tracks, RGLs continue to receive support from their department, HR, and the research institute to further enhance their personal and professional growth in their position as RGL.

Three academic functions, three career paths
Radboudumc aims for a future-proof and clear profile of the academic professional, where emphasis can be put on one of the three core functions. For this purpose, and in line with the "Recognition and Rewards" initiative, Radboudumc is in the proces of creating a CAP for each function in line with the three core tasks (patient care, education and research).
The first CAP that has been developed and implemented is the Scientific Career Path (SCP). The other two CAPs, respectively for patient care and education, are in development.

Research groups and research programs
Our research is conducted in the context of a research group. By working in groups, we accelerate the development of knowledge and its implementation. Each group is led by an experienced leader (RGL). The specialized knowledge of a group is applied in one or more research programs, enabling us to strengthen collaboration and transcend common boundaries.
