ENABLE PhD and Postdoc symposium officially presented

We are officially presenting the inaugural ENABLE conference, the first European symposium for PhDs and postdocs, that will take place in Barcelona on 15th-17th November 2017. This initiative seeks to promote excellence in the biomedical sciences in Europe by supporting young researchers, strengthening scientific careers, and bringing biomedicine closer to society.

ENABLE is about opening academia from within to promote a new research culture through a real exchange between young scientists, renowned researchers, industry professionals and citizens. And, unlike other conferences, the organisation is on the shoulders of PhD students and Postdoctoral fellows, as a way of empowering them in choosing their future.

In Barcelona, young scientists from all over Europe will learn from different biomedical fields and cutting edge techniques through talks and masterclasses. They will participate in many different activities to interact with top scientists and talk about their personal career paths. ENABLE will also host an opportunity fair and workshops to provide information and opportunities outside academia, from the publishing world to the biotechnological and pharmaceutical sectors. And finally, ENABLE will organise many different outreach activities to allow participants to explain biomedicine among citizens.

ENABLE is the first European symposium for PhDs and postdocs and the first step for turning academia inside out. The initiative, which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, is led by four research institutes in Barcelona, Nijmegen, Copenhagen and Milan/Napels (IRB Barcelona, RIMLS, NNF CPR, SEMM) and a science communication agency (Scienseed).
