The publication is featured on the cover of the January issue of Nature cell biology.

As part of a series of reviews about recent advances in the field of mechanobiology, Sjoerd van Helvert, Cornelis Storm (TU/e) and Peter Friedl discuss in Nature cell biology how migrating cells sense and respond to tissue mechanics, and how cells in turn modify their surroundings.

The accompanying cover illustration was acquired by Diede van Ens during her MMD internship in the Friedl lab, under supervision of Lianne Beunk.
