Cleft palate surgery causes fibrosis in the muscles of the soft palate, which impairs speech. In this project, umbilical cord stem cells in fibrin will be used to reduce fibrosis after soft palate wounding in a rat model.
The project will be carried out by a Chinese PhD student with a CSC grant from China.
Frank Wagener and Hans von den Hoff, theme Reconstructive and regenerative medicine, obtained a grant from the Swiss Osteology Foundation to study cleft palate repair in a rat model.
