About Harry van Goor

Prof. dr. Van Goor is primarily involved in research in the field of gastrointestinal surgery, surgical education and innovation. His projects encompass both clinical and experimental research of major gastrointestinal health problems, including intestinal anastomotic leakage, abdominal adhesions, abdominal wall defects, pancreatitis, surgical mesh infections, and chronic abdominal pain. In general, his research is characterized by innovative projects, such as the development and application of a new tissue tape, the use of nanoparticle solutions for tissue adhesion, the use of alginates as anti-adhesives, bacterial virulence inhibition, continuous patient monitoring with iOS based patches and predictive analytics, 3D simulation techniques for surgical education, and innovative personalized patient contextual research such as in the 'room with a view' project.
