About Marieke Perry

Marieke is employed at the depts. of Geriatric Medicine and of Primary and Community Care of the Radboudumc. Central theme to her work is to unravel and facilitate complex processes in integrated care for community-dwelling frail older people, especially for people with dementia. In this context, she contributes to the development and implementation of interventions that target generalist (inter) professional behaviour. She has methodological expertise on qualitative research and mixed methods designs. Current projects include Memorabel project Decidem, that aims to implement advance care planning and shared decision making for dementia patients in primary care; DementiaNet that aims to improve interprofessional collaboration for patients with dementia in primary care; Crisis reduction in dementia care that aims to in-depth understand the development of crisis situations in people with dementia ; SHiMMy and SHARED that aim to unravel the interaction between social health and cognitive decline preceding and during the dementia trajectory; S-DeciDeD that aims to explore and improve shared decision making on cognitive diagnostic work-up in primary care.

Marieke is a member of Interdem (a pan-European network of researchers on early detection for and psycho-social interventions for persons with dementia), was selected for the Oxford Leadership Programme in Primary Care Research (2016), contributed to several Dutch dementia guidelines, wrote columns for persons with dementia and carers about her experiences with dementia care in daily practice, and is involved as an expert on the website of the Dutch Alzheimer Association.
